Retrospective Audit on Cloxacillin Prescription in Primary Health Care Facilities in Kuala Selangor, Malaysia

Introduction: Cloxacillin is the second most prescribed antibiotic for skin and soft tissue infection in Malaysia. A similar pattern was seen Kuala Selangor, which our district demonstrated that Defined Daily Dose (DDD) of high (3.0-8.7) compared to recommended value from World Health Organization (WHO). However, resistant patterns are alarming. This study focuses on appropriate use prevent further antimicrobial resistance. Methodology: a retrospective cross-sectional audit, conducted seven public health clinics Selangor January 2020 March 2020. All prescriptions within this duration were selected. Audit format adapted stewardship protocol (AMS). Appropriate based accuracy diagnosis, indication antibiotic, correct usage (pharmacological name, dose, frequency duration). Results: total 259 collected. Majority age 40 years old, 48.6% (n=126) male, 63.7% (n=165). subcutaneous 64.1% (n=166). Diagnosis accurate Those had 79.4% (131/165); 51.5% (85/165); name 69.7% (115/165); 55.2% (91/165); dose 55.8% (92/165), 47.3% (78/165). 41.8% (69/165). Conclusion: Measures improve adherence National Antibiotic Guideline (NAG) Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) crucial.
